Assurance Vision 2030

Assurance Vision 2030 is our vision for the future of our firm, created based on the environment in which we expect to be operating 2030. This vision is designed to keep us highly relevant to society in any era by fulfilling PwC’s Purpose–to build trust in society and solve important problems. As PricewaterhouseCoopers Japan LLC, we aim to further evolve and materialize our vision.

Facing the challenges of an uncertain society

We are living in an era of unprecedented change and uncertainty, which is becoming increasingly unpredictable as our economy and society continue to change at an accelerated pace. Although this makes it difficult to envision our future with accuracy, our Assurance Vision 2030 defines the kind of firm we aim to be by 2030, based on four future scenarios that were developed through our Creating a Decade Project.

We also believe that while it is important to anticipate various future scenarios, our society in 2030 will call upon us be an organisation that can flexibly respond to unforeseen circumstances.

The Creating a Decade Project:
A project led by a group of young professionals who are in their third to fifth year with our firm. In this project, we used scenario planning methodology to envision what our society may look like a decade into the future. Based on four future scenarios developed during the course of this project, Assurance Vision 2030 outlines the kind of organisation our assurance practice aims to become by 2030.

Important agendas for 2030 society

Trust gaps likely to arise in a 2030 society

The changes that occur in our society, economy and environment in 2030 will expose the need for new forms of trust. Technological advancements like AI, rising geopolitical risks and environmental changes triggered by climate change will likely cause ‘trust gaps’ in a wide range of areas.

PwC’s Purpose is to build trust in society and solve important problems.

To be able to continue fulfilling our purpose in 2030, we believe our professional services must bridge these trust gaps that may exist in our future society.

How can we bridge the wide range of ‘trust gaps’ that may exist in our future society?

We can do so by broadening our audit and advisory services, bringing together the skills of each of our professionals to offer integrated assurance services, and becoming a firm that builds new forms of trust within society.

Bringing integrated assurance services to life

To fill the ‘trust gaps’ that are likely to arise in a 2030 society, we will broaden our audit and assurance approach to include non-financial areas. Through our advisory services, we will continuously endeavour to build new forms of trust that are essential for our clients and society.

By bringing together diverse professional skills across the boundaries of audits, advisory and the PwC network, we aim to co-create and offer integrated assurance services that can build the wide range of trust that our society will need in 2030.

What we aim to achieve through Assurance Vision 2030

By bringing our integrated assurance services and Assurance Vision 2030 to life, we will become an organisation of diverse professionals that work together beyond existing boundaries, collaborating across audit, assurance and advisory services.

Our society in 2030 will include professionals who cover an expansive range of areas, such as finance and accounting and emerging technologies like generative AI and cybersecurity. It will also include professionals specialising in sustainability, which is a field with the potential to impact both our society and the environment, as well as new industries that we have yet to uncover. Through collaboration among all these professionals, we will build new forms of trust and solve important problems in a 2030 society.

Through a global initiative, PwC is developing a new digital platform that includes our next-generation audit. This will change the face of auditing and advisory services and enable us to provide stronger trust to our clients and society. In this way, we aim to become an organisation of diverse professionals that can fully leverage emerging technologies to work closely with our clients and build unwavering trust in society by designing new standards and rules.

We take on these challenges for reason alone: to pass on a better society to future generations.

Through Assurance Vision 2030, PwC will continuously aspire to build a better, more trusted society.
